Hi all! My name is ShaWanda. Thanks for taking some time to get to know me. I am an educator, writer, storyteller, and yogi. I was born in Jackson, Mississippi, but raised in 29 Palms, CA. I've lived in the Morongo Basin off-and-on for over 20 years. I have a bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Spalding University.

As an educator, I've taught at the middle school and elementary levels for nine years. I also worked in financial aid at several post-secondary educational institutions. I began teaching yoga classes in 2021. My areas of interest are teaching yoga to children and yin and restorative practices for adults. I am passionate about sharing this transformative and healing practice with all people, but with a focused attention on children and women and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).
I have been practicing mindfulness for over ten years and began practicing yoga in 2018.

Presently, I live in Yucca Valley, CA, with my son, Mateo, and our miniature schnauzer, Duchess. When not teaching, writing, or doing yoga, I enjoy reading, traveling, dancing, cooking for family and friends, and binge-watching tv shows and movies.
